Under the guidance of the Honourable Executive Director, Prof Dr Hanumantha Rao, an awareness programme was organized on the occasion of World TB Day 2026 on 24th March 2026 at the Government Nursing College, Ramanathapuram The programme was conducted by the District TB Unit, Ramanathapuram, in collaboration with the Department of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Madurai, under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by Countries, Powered by People” The event was graced by the presence of distinguished faculty members, including Dr Ramesh Babu, Deputy Director (TB), District TB Unit; Dr Venkateswaran, Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Government Ramanathapuram Medical College; and Dr Praveena Daya A, Assistant Professor, Department of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Madurai, along with the Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) staffs from the District TB Unit Dr Ramesh Babu delivered a talk highlighting the theme of World TB Day and emphasized the importance of tuberculosis elimination Dr Venkateswaran elaborated on the risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, management, and counselling aspects of tuberculosis Dr Praveena Daya A spoke on the vital role of nursing staff in TB elimination, stressing prevention through community awareness at the primary healthcare level and the importance of infection control practices in hospital settings to prevent the spread of TB The programme concluded with a pledge taken by all students and staff in line with the World TB Day theme The vote of thanks was delivered by the Principal of the Government Nursing College, marking the successful completion of the event.
